After graduating from the University of Pretoria in 2013, Jana moved to Cape Town where she completed her community service year at Groote Schuur Hospital. During this year Jana gained a tremendous amount of experience in managing a high work load, treating a variety conditions in the acute setting as well as aiding in the training of fourth year physiotherapy students. Furthermore, Jana gained invaluable insight into rehabilitating numerous hand conditions whilst working in the multidisciplinary team at the Martin Singer Hand Unit at Groote Schuur Hospital.
By completing her BASI (Body Arts and Science International) Pilates course in 2012, Jana found her love for Pilates which she now actively integrates in the rehabilitation of many musculoskeletal conditions. More recently, Jana completed a dry needling course and geriatric hydrotherapy courses, as well as a number of workshops related to acute care in the hospital setting eg. advanced ventilator workshop, spinal cord injury talks and ethics courses. Currently Jana is in the process of completing her kinesio taping course and more advanced hydrotherapy courses.
In order to live by her motto of leading a balanced lifestyle, Jana enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including trail running and hiking. This year Jana completed her third Cape Town Argus Cycle Challenge and is looking forward to many more in the future. She enjoys spending time with family and friends either on the beach or in thescenic wine lands.
Working with people is one of Jana's biggest aspirations in life which is why physiotherapy is not just her occupation, it’s her passion!
